CSEdWeek Dec 9-15
CSEdWeek, or Computer Science Education Week, on December 8-14, 2025, is a nationwide celebration of computer science. It's a week filled with coding challenges, workshops, and other fun activities designed to inspire students of all ages to explore the exciting world of computer science. From building video games to creating websites and now exploring artificial intelligence, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The main goal of the week is to get your class, school, or community involved in computer science.

This Year's Theme: CS Powers AI Innovation
As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes our world, a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals isn't just an advantage—it's essential. This Computer Science Education Week, we're focusing on how CS Powers AI Innovation. Join educators nationwide in equipping the next generation with the computational thinking and problem-solving skills needed to lead the charge in AI development, ensuring they can build innovative and impactful solutions for the future.

CS Heroes: Celebrating Diverse Voices in Computer Science
The CSEdWeek team offers a variety of support and resources for teaching, advocating, and connecting with CS. On the top of the list of these resources is the CS Heroes Poster. Each year, they find amazing students, educators, and partners in the field to showcase on posters that you can print and share with your community.
The 2025 CS Hero Posters are now available! These make for a great lesson or unit starter, discussing with students what computer science can look like in a variety of different contexts. They are also something that is great to hang in the hallway or on bulletin boards.

CSEdWeek also offers a template and lesson material to create your own CS Hero Posters! This is a wonderful way to have students research computer science heroes and showcase the positive influence of their work. Students can identify someone who uses CS to help others and create a poster to celebrate their CS Hero. Here is a link to CS Hero Poster with a Google Slide Template. We’ve also created a simple Canva Template in case that is a platform you use with your students.
Opportunities with CSTA
CSEdWeek is coordinated by CSTA, or the Computer Science Teachers Association. This organization calls themselves the largest CS Department in the world. This is your go-to resource for all things computer science education. It's like a club for educators who love coding and want to share their passion with students and others. CSTA offers professional development, curriculum resources, and a supportive community of like-minded educators.

CSTA will be hosting special events for CSEdWeek, including a Kickoff Event on December 8th where they'll spotlight how computer science fuels the innovations behind artificial intelligence. During the week of Dec 8-14th, they will host additional celebrations and webinars. I highly recommend you check out CSTA and their CSEdWeek events!
FREE Student Shows
CodeJoy is joining in on the fun! We want to help teachers and students celebrate CS so we have planned to support your classrooms with 8 Free Robot Memories Student Shows! That's right, during CSEdWeek we will have shows at a variety of times to support time zones across the country. Each of our shows can have up to 400 participants, which means we hope to support up to 3,200 students for CSEdWeek!
Robot Memories: A Heartfelt Coding Experience
Grandma Dottie has the best stories - but she will need our help to bring her faded memories back to life!
In this interactive show, students join Elby as he visits his Grandma Dottie at her house, which is decorated with pictures showing scenes from her life. Each picture is a story, but Grandma Dottie can't quite remember all the details of these memories. Students learn to program LEDs and motors using position servo motors and tri-LEDs, and as they write those programs, the code literally brings her memories to life!

This show is about connecting with family through storytelling—just in time for the holidays. Students will explore loops, pause blocks, and parallel programming while experiencing a warm and heartfelt celebration of shared stories and the power of memory.
Want to know more? Check out our Robot Memories Behind-the-Scenes blog to learn about the personal inspiration and hundreds of hours of work that went into creating this special show!
To sign up for a free show, visit our Free Student Shows registration page. Select your time and date. You'll share how many students you plan to bring and a special link with instructions will be sent to the email you register with. Spots are filling up fast—some shows are already full! Register early to secure your spot.
FREE Educator Webinar
We're also hosting a FREE webinar for educators during CSEdWeek! Join us as we highlight some of our favorite AI and Hour of Code/AI resources, share strategies for integrating CS into your classroom, and connect with other educators celebrating computer science education. Register for our webinar here.
Be sure to keep an eye out for updates to our Student Show companion projects as well. We will be updating and sharing new, easy to teach lessons you can use with your students. Robot Memories will have updated downloadable lesson plans with easy building instructions and simple code for you and your classroom.
Hour of Code & Hour of AI
If you're looking for just the right activity to try with your class or your whole school, Code.org's Hour of Code activities might be just right! Code.org provides a huge bank of simple, step-by-step, coding activities that are meant to last one hour or less.

New this year: Code.org is transitioning their focus to include Hour of AI, building on over a decade of success with Hour of Code. This new initiative is designed to help students and educators everywhere take their first step into understanding and creating with artificial intelligence. The Hour of Code activities are still available and valuable, but you'll now see an increased emphasis on AI integration and AI-focused activities.
In my schools, this has been a particularly great resource for educators who are not familiar with coding or CS. Code.org provides guides, resources, and a platform to share your event. However, I would highly recommend, if you are trying to get your whole school involved, pick your favorite activities and share those directly with teachers and students. The Music Lab activities where students can remix tracks and use AI to generate their own beats are always a hit!
Connect and Celebrate
Watch social media to see what your favorite edtech companies are doing to celebrate and support you. You can even reach out and ask, "What are you doing for #CSEdWeek?" Then, be sure to share your own celebrations with the tags #CSEdWeek and #CSPowersAI!
Computer Science Education Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase the amazing work happening in your classroom and inspire students to explore the exciting intersection of computer science and artificial intelligence. Whether you're hosting a CodeJoy show, participating in Hour of AI, or creating your own CS Hero posters, you're part of a nationwide movement to empower the next generation of innovators.
Let's make CSEdWeek 2025 unforgettable!
